Site No 253 - Dibles Touring and Residential Site

We stayed on this site on our way to Spain in November 2015. We rated it a good site then and our opinion has not changed. Click HERE to read the report I wrote then.

General Description:-
This site certainly lives up to its five star rating. The entire site is beautifully kept and the staff friendly and helpful with all seeming to speak good English. The is a superb swimming pool area, keep fit room, games room etc., etc.

Toilets and Showers:-
The toilets and showers are, as on many French sites, unisex. They are modern, bright, airy and kept spotless. Loo roll, soap and drying facilities are all provided.

Laundrette:-
There is a well equipped laundrette at reasonable price.

Restaurant:-
The restaurant on site has received many glowing testimonials from other campers but we did not try it.

Conclusions:-
This site has everything needed for a great family holiday. At the times we visit it is quiet and peaceful but in season I would imagine there to be a great buzz about the place imagine booking essential.

Price:-
We stayed for seven nights and paid €19.00 per night.

General Description:-
This is a little gem of a site, the Dutch owners speak many languages between them and are always ready with advise or help. There had been rain for many weeks and the owner went to a great deal of trouble to recommend pitches that were not waterlogged and that we would be able to get into and out off without recourse to the motor movers.

Toilets and Showers:-
The showers and toilets (unisex - this is France after all) were clean modern and had all necessaries supplied. If there was a negative it was that the showers were a little small and you thad to make sure your togs would stay before turning on the water. A slight annoyance not a deal breaker.

Laundrette:-
none

Restaurant:-
There is a small bar/snack bar that was not open at the time of year we visited and we understand the owners sometimes organise BBQ nights in the summer months.

Conclusions:-
This site is quiet and spacious, the 45 pitches being between 125 and 200 sq. m, the staff friendly and helpful we would be happy to recommend it to anyone and will certainly be happy to return if in the area.

Price:-
We stayed five nights and paid €15.00 per night.

Site No 250 - Campsite Larrouleta

This is an ACSI site

Camp Site Name:-

Campsite Larrouleta

Address:-

France

Phone Number:-

Web Address:-

General Description:-
This is a large, very large, family run site that was designed and laid out by someone with a great deal of skill at forward thinking, the hundreds of pitches are all laid out to maximise both the space available on the pitch and the number pitches on the site. There are standard pitches, allocated when using ACSI, and comfort pitches that as well as having drinking water and grey water disposal to each are supplied with 10 amp electricity rather than the 5 amp supplied to standard pitches.

Toilets and Showers:-
The showers and toilets are unisex but unlike some French sites that shut the facilities of one gender in low season to reduce cleaning costs these are always unisex as are all the blocks on the site. They are kept well supplied with all the necessary paper, soap and hand drying facilities.

Laundrette:-
There is a launderette but we did not use it

Restaurant:-
The site has a restaurant but the ACSI reviews were far from complimentary and we had no intention of eating there until chatting to the campsite receptionist she recommended the campsite restaurant saying they had just replaced the “awful staff with really good ones” so we chanced it. The receptionist was right. It was good. Sue started with house salad which was huge and very tasty while I had pate again delicious, for the main Sue had roasted beef flank while I had squid, delicious. Washed down with a local wine the whole lot came to €52.40 (£45.62) more than we have paid for a meal out in years but still, for France, very good value for money.

Conclusions:-
This is a pleasant, welcoming site, open all year, that Brits tend to use as a one night stopover which is a pity as the site and area are worth a longer visit.

Price:-
We stayed here three nights and paid €19.00 per night.

Site No 149 - Campsite Fuentes Blancas Cat.1

Campsite Fuentes Blancas is an ACSI site.

This is a site we have visited before and we would not be here but for getting caught in a snow storm and this was the "nearest port in a storm”.

General Description:-
This is a pleasant site with pitches both small and large. The access is good and the staff friendly and helpful. The site is a short walk from the town of Tordesillas with it’s many bars restaurants and shops.

Toilets and Showers:-
The facilities on this site are amongst the best we have come across they are modern and kept spotlessly clean. Loo roll, soap and towels are all provided

Laundrette:-
There is a small but efficient launderette charging reasonable prices.

Restaurant:-
There is a restaurant on site but although we didn’t try it, we did, though, visit the small well stocked mini market in a room of the main restaurant which we thought looked warm and inviting.

Conclusions:-
This is a pleasant site close to a pleasant and historic town. We stayed for five nights but it seems that most arrive late afternoon/early evening and leave fairly sharp the next morning using the site as a transit camp only, a great pity as the area has much to see and explore.

Price:-
We stayed 6 nights and paid €19.00 per night

Site No 247 - Parque de Camp. de V.Real **

General Description:-
Despite this being a municipal site it is well run with enthusiastic staff. There is a restaurant (sort of) on site but as the town is close by there is plenty of choice within a relatively short walk.

The site like the town is built on the side of the quite steep hill and terraced, however the actual pitches are flat.

The entrance is reasonably easy but once in the town following signs is a bit easier than following than following your sat nav. There is, though, just one way out up a narrow one way street with a left turn into another narrow one way street at the end. On a weekend or during the university vacations this should present no problem but midweek in term time here was NO WAY with a rig over 12m (41 ft) we were going to be able to make the turn. We unhitched, drove the car round and then motor moved the caravan round and re-hitched. Being Portugal not of the 15 or so cars behind us got “humpy” and started leaning on their horns, indeed one driver got out of his car and (in excellent English) inquired if he could help in any way, as did a young lady who happened to be passing. Thinking about it even a small outfit may not be easy at this corner but please don’t let it put you off this site.

Toilets and Showers:-
Both showers and toilets are reasonably modern and kept clean but as usual in Portugal there are no toilet seats and loo roll, soap and towels are not provided

Laundrette:-
There is a launderette, of sorts, in as much as there is a washing machine in a locked cupboard in the gents toilets the key is rented for a small sum per hour.

Restaurant:-
As mentioned above there is a restaurant on site that seems very popular with locals, but we didn’t try it because of a lack of time and not a lack of desire.

Conclusions:-
This was a pleasant site to which we would, even with our large outfit, be happy to return.

Price:-
We stayed for 9 nights and paid £yy per night

Site No 246 - Camping O Tamanco (Camping Clogs)

Web Address:-

General Description:-
The site despite being just metres from the motorway is very rural and we found very peaceful although the are guard geese close to the gate that warn of approaching strangers and hens free to scratch about round the site, OK I know hens tend to be quite but the roosters that attend them  are happy to scream their “cock a doodle doos” at all times of the day and night and a randy turkey tried its best to noisily woo a very reluctant lady turkey. Now anyone who knows me however little will be aware that one woof from a dog and I will be climbing the walls but the various bird noises on the site were, to us at least, in no way intrusive simply adding to the laid back ambiance of the site.

Dutch owners Irene and Hans were a mine of local information and happy to help in any way they could and with a very helpful and friendly cosmopolitan staff team that included Portuguese, Latvian, Austrian and American nationals a great many languages were covered.

Toilets and Showers:-
The showers and toilets were kept spotlessly clean during the time we were there, which was a at the beginning of the season when occupancy was low and it would have been very tempting to save cash by cutting cleaning staff.

Laundrette:-
There was a service wash laundry on site but with the rain over the past few weeks we had so much laundry to do we took it all to the local “Intermarche” which has a two washer and one dryer laundrette in the car park with one of the washers taking an 18 kg load, however as with all things on this site I’m confident it would be reasonably priced.

Restaurant:-
The restaurant is closed in the early season but judging by the soup provided on the Friday get togethers we attended the meals would be of a high quality.

Conclusions:-
Although this was our first visit to this site it has gone to a very high position in our favourite sites list going straight into the top three along with Camping Alentejo and Quinta das Cegonhas Parque Rural, strange our top three Portuguese campsites are all Dutch owned.

Camping Clogs owners Irene and Hans are both talented people are passionate about giving their customers the best experience they can. We will return.

Price:-
We stayed here for fourteen nights and paid the ACSI price of €19.00 per night.

Site No 000 - Not a site but a house.

General Description:-
This was a pleasant house in a pleasant village. While everything necessary is provided it could never be called a home from home, virtually all the places we have rented over the past few years have felt like a home that the owners have allowed us to share for a short while, this felt like an investment that the owners had furnished and equipped with that firmly in mind. The property was let as suitable for six but the lounge contained a table and four chairs together with a three seater sofa (became a double bed) and a single armchair.

Having said that during the season virtually all time would be spent outside using the house only for sleeping for which it’s adequate.
